Discovering pole dance fitness was such an amazing eye opener for Summer. As a mother of two, finding the time and desire to go the gym was a struggle. To realize that fitness can be exciting, sensual, and something to look forward to, was a feeling that she had not previously experienced.
Summer attributes pole dance fitness to transforming her into the strong, sexy, confident woman that she has become. As a student, she watched women of all ages start to feel sensual within their own skin. With a desire to bring these feelings to others, she began instructing in October 2009. She wanted to help other women discover the strength, beauty and grace that they all possess and sometimes find hard to express. Summer is an X-Pert Certified Pole Fitness instructor.
Welcome our new X-Pert Certified Pole Fitness instructor, Danae! From a young age, Danae has been drawn to performance and the arts. At the age of 10, she began studying ballet. Spending her teenage years between the city and working with horses in the country, she joined a hip-hop dance troop in Dallas. A year later she became captain and coached the girls to their first dance competition, where they won second place!
After having her little girl in 2007, Danae wanted to find a new scene and left for Austin. She soon discovered a whole new form of artistic expression in burlesque, but it was not physically challenging enough to hold her interest. Danae found the combined performance art and physicality of pole dancing addicting! She began training in pole around 2009. Self taught and driven, she soon began performing at shows and festivals and has since performed on some of Austin's most notorious stages. Danae has made appearances at the R.O.T. Rally, Antone's, SXSW, The Highball, Beauty Ballroom, monthly reviews at Elysium, and so much more!
Wanting to perfect her skills and techniques, and continue her love for teaching dance, Danae became an regular face at Brass Ovaries and is now an X-Pole X-Pert trained pole fitness instructor.

Fresh from California, this coiling pixie discovered her passion for dance and theatre arts at the young age of 4, though her dance aspirations really took off at age 12, when she made her way into a professional dance company, "Carrie On", under Carrie Pereira and Apryl Hanson. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Dance and Theatre Arts at CSU, Sacramento in 2005, and became a well known face and name in the community. Haley soon developed into an award-winning choreographer of startling erotic and creative contemporary modern dance, and taught at the advanced college level. During a 5 year hiatus, due to a traumatic leg injury, Haley found the healing and powerful practice of yoga, first as a student and eventually as an instructor. Having recently moved to Austin, Haley has been working as an up-and-coming pole and burlesque dancer, falling in love with the theatrical tease and language of the body. She is elated to be teaching with the nationally acclaimed Brass Ovaries!
Erin is a bit of a Jack of All Trades! She went to college to study music, but found her love for doing hair along the way. She has been working as a hair color specialist for the past 8 years and loves helping people feel good about themselves. While doing hair in Dallas, she discovered she had scoliosis and turned to Pilates to help her rehabilitate. Loving the subtle physiological nuances of the practice, and the difference in how her body felt, she became a certified Pilates instructor through Karen Sanzo in Dallas, in 2006. Soon after her certification, she moved to Austin and continued doing hair color. She eventually became an educator to share her knowledge with colorists new to the industry. She also continued advancing her Pilates studies under Kate Wodash, at Mindful Body Center.
Always looking for new challenges, Erin took her first pole class at Brass Ovaries in early 2012 and immediately fell in love with not just pole dancing, but the support that she received from instructors and students alike. Not only was it physically challenging, but she discovered an inner strength and confidence she never knew she had. It is now her goal to help others find their own personal strength and sense of self through the art of pole and the sense of community found at Brass Ovaries!
Marisa’s love for aerial arts was sparked when a friend and fellow burlesque dancer encouraged her to purchase a Brass Ovaries Groupon. Following her first class, she was totally hooked on this fun new form of fitness! Aerial arts have completely changed Marisa’s life; within her first year of training, she was cast in a full-length aerial production, The Time Machine, with local circus arts collective Sky Candy. Since then, Marisa has continued to perform with Sky Candy in their productions of The Flame and Land Without Evil. She is also a member of Volve Performance Collective, with whom she has performed at Cirque Lunaire, Cirque Blanc, Head for the Hills Music Festival, and local fundraiser ArtErotica. Marisa’s specialty is doubles work, particularly doubles lyra with her partner, Lindsay King. She recently competed in the Doubles Division of the Capital of Texas Pole Championships and has also performed and created partner work on the hammock, the cube, the silks and the ground. Marisa has continued to train at both Sky Candy, where she is a member of the Studio Company, and Brass Ovaries, where she is absolutely thrilled to be making the leap to instructor. She is very excited to be able to instruct and support new students as they begin their own aerial journeys – she hopes it will be as life-changing for you as it has been for her!
Before she was even born, Caty Mae's parents were traveling up and down the California coastline, working in various circuses. So when it was her time to stand in the ring, her family would realize that it was more than destiny, it was in her blood.
Caty Mae started her training in Los Angeles by accident, when someone noticed her pointed toes during a set of pull-ups and recommended a silks class. With years of yoga and athletic tendencies under her belt, it wasn't long before she was enrolled in a full time aerial training program, under the mastery of Cirque du Soleil coaches Rachel Walker of Kooza and Sarah Steben of Saltimbanco.
Almost immediately after she left school, her career took flight. She has since worked in many Hollywood nightclubs as well as fairs, schools, and charity benefits. She has also flown next to high profile stars like Macy Grey and studied silks alongside P!nk.
Her passion fo being in the air has taken her all over the country and abroad. As an athlete first and foremost, she believes in specified techniques for flexibility and strength training, which she has molded over the coarse of her career.
Her latest endeavor has been with a three ring circus working on Silks, Lyra, Spanish Web, and several elephants. After two years on the road, Caty Mae is excited to return to teaching and share her experiences with students who share her enthusiasm for fitness and circus arts.
